Beau Rivage one of 500 best hotels

Great news for one of the top casino resorts, the Beau Rivage!

Calling it a “waterfront resort that’s like Vegas on the Gulf Coast,” Travel+Leisure magazine has named Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi one of the top 500 hotels in the world.

This is the seventh annual T+L 500 and the sixth time Beau Rivage has made the list.

Beau Rivage President George Corchis Jr. said, “With a circulation of nearly one million, this award is very significant because it comes from the magazine’s readers, who are among the most sophisticated and passionate travelers in the world.”

Beau Rivage is an MGM Mirage property. It has 1,740 guest rooms and suites, 11 restaurants, four nightclubs and bars, a 1,550-seat theater, a shopping promenade with 12 shops, a spa and salon and the Tom Fazio–designed Fallen Oak golf course.

Isle of Capri continues to cut back

We first heard about this in December, but looks like they are not putting any date on the project now. We will continue to update here.

Isle of Capri said it would suspend expansion work on its Biloxi, Miss., resort until economic conditions improve. The expansion, which was targeted for a 2010 completion, was to have included a new single-level casino, restoration of convention space, new restaurants and the renovation of some hotel rooms.
