IP Biloxi Mailers changing food comps

IP Biloxi food compsA couple Biloxi websites and forums that I frequent are complaining that IP Biloxi has greatly limited or removed food comps from their mailers. Mailers are the promotions and coupons that casinos send to their players on a monthly basis. These are usually to try to entice players to return to the casino.

Most casinos will include coupons for food and buffets, sometimes they can be a 2 for 1 buffet coupon, free buffet, or a dollar amount allowed for free food. It looks like it has been confirmed that the IP will not be sending any more food coupons.

However, you have to remember that the IP is very generous with their food comps while playing. Always use your card in the machine, or give to pit boss if you are playing tables. At the end of your session you can check points, visit the players club booth, or ask the pit boss for a food comp. Always A-S-K!

Biloxi Restaurants Awards

Quick tidbit of information about the Biloxi Restaurant scene, Sun Herald reported that two casino restaurants were given awards.

Lbs Steakhouse Harrahs Grand BiloxiThe first was Lb’s Steakhouse at Harrah’s Grand Biloxi. Chef Jason Carlisle was awarded as the top chef on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast during the first Southern Breeze Gulf Coast Chef Challenge.

Here  is some information about Lb’s:
One of the finest restaurants on the Gulf Coast, the award-winning Lb’s Steakhouse offers an incredible selection of thick, juicy steaks, prime rib, fresh fish and more in an elegant but casual atmosphere.

Lb’s serves premium Harris Ranch beef and has established an extensive wine list for the perfect accompaniment to your meal.

You can choose the perfect wine from among 25 wines by the glass and more than 100 varieties of bottled wines.

Carnavel De Brasil IP BiloxiSecond was Carnaval de Brasil at the IP Hotel and Casino. Carnaval de Brasil of received the award for Best of Brunch. Carnaval is a Brazilian steakhouse known as a “Churrascaria”. Very similar to the popular restaurant “Texas De Brazil”.

Here is a description we found:
Just as in the authentic fireside roasts of South American Gauchos, the churrasco at Carnaval de Brasil is slowly pit roasted over an open flame to preserve the individual taste of each succulent cut of meat, then presented to you and carved table-side. If you have the chance to visit this unique restaurant, be sure to start by sampling the exotic salad bar, comprised of the freshest produce and seafood, imported cheeses and meats, roasted vegetables and more. For lighter fare try the unique Tapas Bar - every Brazilian morsel is a delight

Biloxi Gold Coast Casino Resort

It looks like we might have a new casino approved from the Biloxi Gaming Commission.

RW Development latest project is the Gold Coast Casino Resort. They didn’t release any exact figures on size, amount of gaming space, and other features. However the location will be on Veterans Avenue and Highway 90.

After much support and little opposition was voiced, the planning commission overwhelming approved the project. But it still needs the approval of the city and the state.  This is once again great news for Biloxi Casinos!

Best Biloxi Poker Rooms

After a couple months of research and reviews, Biloxi Casinos has reviewed the top 2 poker rooms in Biloxi. Here they are in order.

#1 - Beau Rivage - In terms of size it was very close between the Beau’s Room and the IP, however the Beau edge over the IP due to quality of furniture, comps, and game selection. The Beau Rivage room spreads some of the largest games on the coast and always has a decent crowd so game selection is plentiful.  Featuring 16 tables with dealing a variety of popular games such as Texas Hold’em, 7-Card Stud and Omaha High Low Split, you’re bound to find a perfectly suited hand. Players looking for even bigger action will find it in the High Stakes area where no-limit Texas Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha let your really go all in.

#2 - IP Biloxi -  Like I said above, the rooms are very similar in comparison. IP also has 16 tables, gets a good crowd, and spreads a mixture of games. It is located on the 3rd floor of the casino in a nice roped off area. Seating and waiting lists are monitored from a well experienced staff. Tournaments are running 7 days a week and a tournament calendar is readily available in the poker room.

It was a tough call, but seems that the Beau Rivage has a little more benefits and easier to reach comps for players. Remember though, you have to ask for a comp, don’t be scared, the worst they can say is no.

Next time you are in Biloxi, check both of them out. You will not be disappointed.

I will post some pics in the near future.

Mississippi Casinos Set Records, Help State Recover

Even after the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina less than three years ago, the Mississippi Gulf Coast finds its casino industry growing at a remarkable rate. Despite having properties utterly destroyed by the storm, casinos have rebuilt and reorganized to the point that 20007 is expected to have been a record year for revenue.

The executive director of the mississippi Gaming Commission, Larry Gregory, had set an ambitious goal of $3 billion in gross receipts at the beginning of the year, and he recently said, “It’s going to be very close. There’s no doubt it will be a record.”

Commission represenatives noted that, while in 2006 monthly casino revenues topped $100 million only one time, in 2007 every month topped the $100 million mark except one.

Even as Atlantic City and other areas try to devise strategies to cope with losses incurred by stiffer and more numerous competition, Mississippi surged forward, closing the gap between itself as the third-largest casino market in the U.S. and Atlantic City as the second. Las Vegas remains first.

Over 15,000 jobs exist in the Mississippi casino industry, and that number is expected to increase as new casinos in Biloxi and D’Iberville open soon.

Terence Robicheaux, employee of the Beau Rivage Casino, said, “Without the help and influx of cash from the casinos, the Gulf Coast would still be in tatters. We have a long way to go, but the gambling businesses have made repairing our lives easier.”

Biloxi Casino mailers are picking up

It seems that a lot of the Biloxi Casinos are pushing for increased visitors in 2008. I have recently received some great free room, free cash, and free food vouchers and coupons from The IP, Isle of Capri, The Palace, and The Treasure Bay.

I also think that due to the reopening of the bridge, the increased traffic will also increase marketing efforts from some of the casinos.

Here is your Biloxi Casinos tip:

Whenever you go into a casino that you will be playing in, take a few extra minutes and sign up for a players card. Make sure you provide a valid address that you check. I have heard reports that even for a little bit of play you will receive some type of promotional offer in the mail. It only takes a few minutes to get a players card and you want to put it into every machine or hand it to the dealer at the table games. Hey, you might be surprised what you receive in the mail, could even be a free room!
