The Beau’s $20K Guarantee the first of the month is very popular. It used to be only a $15K guarantee, but they upped the guarantee some time back. They average over 100 players usually, however, during the slow time of year, I have seen them add quite a bit of dough. Once I remember over $6000! But as the weather warms up so does the poker!! As for the field for the $20K, I would say it does attract some softer players. Of course all the regulars DO show up to play it, but it also brings in the occasional players too. Unfortunately, as far as rooms go there are not many cheap places to stay. Katrina wiped out a lot of hotels along the coast. Just about anywhere you will find is going to be in that ballpark, however, the rooms at the Beau are so nice it is money well spent.
